Directorate of Industries, Odisha functioning under the administrative control of the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Department is responsible for industrial development in the State. It reaches out to 30 districts through 31 District Industries Centres (DICs). Industries Promotion Officers act as the foot-soldiers at the block / local body level. Recently Government has upgraded five posts of General Managers Level I to Joint Director of Industries Level II who will be placed in five Regional DICs being created. At present, there are 31 DICs operating in the State.

Towards the objective of promoting industrial activities and development, various schematic provisions are implemented by DICs under the supervision of the Directorate of Industries. Besides, Directorate also supports MSME Department in policy matters.
